YEHUDA SHAHAL PAINTER, SCULPTOR & WRITER BIOGRAPHY LIFE EVENTS Yehuda Shahal was born in the name of Leonardo Benasalvas Medina in Alexandria, Egypt. The ghosts of the war in Italy, dominated by Mussolini and Franco’s Spain, had forced his parents to Egypt. Only one year later, at the end of the war, the family moved to Spain, until their immigration to Israel at the age of six. Today, Shahal uses his foreign name in international exhibitions that he conducts abroad. Even as a child, Yehuda discovered his talents in art, mainly in the manufacture of wooden toys and models of sailboats. His hobbies grew into writing and painting, which he developed during his military service. In addition to all the works of art, Yehuda has written Thirteen books to date: “Between himself and her” “Power to change”, “Human sacrifice”, “Hope” “false sun”. And a biography of a Holocaust survivor. The last book published in 2023. This is a poetry book for children. Yehuda Shahal is a member of the International Association of Plastic Arts of UNESCO and a member of the Hebrew Book Association. Today he lives and teaches in Netanya, Israel. In 2018 Yehuda received a first prize from the Writers’ Association in Israel – for the best short story. The advantages of being a multidisciplinary artist, is the ability to create and move from subject to subject, be it sculpture, painting, writing poetry or prose and production of models of historical monuments. Several environmental sculptures displayed in European cities in Ireland.
